Poison Poetry Zine
The Poison Poetry Zine project began with an analysis of three unrelated books—Why Women Kill, Eve’s Herbs, and the 1943 Yearbook of Motion Pictures—using a Venn diagram to explore unexpected thematic overlaps. From this, I developed a concept for a mini book featuring poisonous plants, each paired with a poem describing how the plant kills. The project went through three iterations, ultimately resulting in a simplified version with hand-drawn illustrations and short-form poetry. I experimented with both digital and traditional media, explored book formatting, and used humor and concise storytelling to make complex topics more approachable. The randomness of the source material inspired creative connections and encouraged deeper exploration of ideas: both in my own work and in collaboration with classmates.
