FRED A. OLDS
The Fred A. Olds Elementary Centennial branding project was a particularly special project for me to work on. I was brought onto this project when the PTA decided to rebrand for the 100-year anniversary and wanted to find an alum to do the design work. This school has a very rich history as one of the oldest elementary schools in Raleigh, NC. The scope of this project began with just the logo and a few web banners to help with promotion of the event. It grew into a bigger project including new assets, merch designs, and designing for the annual boosterthon event. I began this project with a meeting with the client and gaining insight into what the reason for the redesign would be. I gave three directions, allowing the PTA and principal to decide what they wanted the logo to convey.
FIRST ITERATIONS AND SKETCHES
The three directions initially presented included a childlike/kid-friendly design, a refined, building-focused design, and a redesign of the wolf logo currently in use. They decided to go toward the building-centric design to align with the alumni they are trying to reach.
